Inside this issue:

He Did Something Good . . . :

We are bringing you the story that tells the legacy of a young survivor. David Salamone got polio from the inactivated polio vaccine when he was 9 months old. “We finally decided to channel our anger into a crusade to ensure that other children would not suffer the same fate.” His father, John tells the story.

I’m COLD:

Many, many survivors struggle with the feeling of being terribly cold in their polio affected leg. Polio ‘cold leg’ or ‘cold limb’ is a phenomenon well known to polio survivors, but little known to many medical practitioners.” Primary care physician Marny K. Eulberg, MD has written a fascinating article about this issue and offers survivors outstanding recommendations for working with their physicians.

Sorting out the confusion regarding the polio vaccine:

We have been listening to your questions and concerns regarding the issues surrounding pediatric vaccination. Many of you want to advocate but don’t know how. As a result, we have spent the last year featuring articles in these newsletters that can help you help yourself when it comes to these often-uncomfortable conversations.

We are grateful for the resources that allow us to bring you credible information. Survivor advocates CAN have a voice.
